About Navneet

I've always been an avid reader and excelled in any English class I've taken. Over the years, I've tutored kids (ages 4-18) in basic English skills, reading and comprehension, proofreading, and helping to write stellar college application essays. I have a Master's in Public Policy so I can also help with any Political Science/Politics related tutoring as well as technical writing.

I'm passionate about teaching English because English is not my first language as I immigrated to the United States as a young child. I've navigated helping my parents learn and improve their English skills from a very early age. With dedication and a "thinking outside of the box" approach to tutoring, I'm sure I can help any young learner reach their goals!

You can check out my LinkedIn profile here: (concealed information)

I love that spark of excitement a students gets when they reach their goals and even surpass them exponentially. As a technical thinker, I enjoy breaking down concepts, words, and structures into easily digestible pieces of information that students can use as building blocks!

I would say I've been teaching my whole life, whether that's English or another subject. I've had plenty of personal experience as well as positions where my sole purpose was to read, write, and edit English!

I have experience working with students from my position at LA's BEST Afterschool Enrichment Program where homework help was my favorite part of the day! I also have years of personal experience tutoring friends, family members, and acquaintances.

For my full time position, I read, write, and edit daily!

I like to start with learning the student's current comprehension level and how they learn. I think it's important to incorporate how a student learns because not everyone learns the same way. For example, I'm a visual learner and like to see what I'm learning in a more visual atmosphere. Your student might have their own unique learning method. From there, I create a workplan depending on how frequent the tutoring sessions are, how long your student needs tutoring, and what the student's goals are. I evaluate the workplan after each session to ensure that both the student and I are on track for their goals.

I've worked with ages 4-18 as well as adults. Some have no prior knowledge of English while others are high school students ready to write their first college essays!

It's important that your teacher understand your overall goals whether that's having a conversation in English, writting an amazing essay or understanding grammar. With clear goals in mind, a teacher can better help a student reach their full potential!
