About Karina
I am a recent graduate of Dartmouth College with a B.A. in Biology. I have been admitted to multiple US medical schools and have 99th percentile in MCAT, SAT, and ACT. With over 6 years of tutoring experience, with topics ranging from elementary school through advanced college biology, I enjoy helping my students master challenging material and succesfully prepare for their futures.
I have been tutoring since 2012, ranging from elementary to undergraduate advanced course levels. I worked privately with students until college, where I was officially employed by the Dartmouth Administration's Tutor Clearinghouse. I have completed tutor training as implemented by the Undergraduate Academic Skills Center on how to best meet the needs of diverse students with many learning styles.

I like to tailor my tutoring work to the specific needs and learning style of each individual student. I have developed strategies for students who learn best through verbal, audio, analogy, creative, and other learning schemas. By having a flexible teaching style, I focus on getting to know what is most helpful for the student's goals and how to be most productive in the learning time. By building trust and understanding with my students, I emphasize the safety of our space in that they can feel open and ask any questions without fear of judgment.
I advise trying out the tutor and making sure you are comfortable learning from them. Simply because someone is an expert in a field, does not mean they will always be the best teacher for you. Discuss learning strategies that work for you and think about how well that tutor communicates complex ideas. If after the first session it is not a good fit, you are not bound to stay with that tutor. Your learning is more important and having a good tutor match can be greatly beneficial for your future.

Details
I scale my pricing based on the level of the subject and distance traveled. High-school level subjects $30-40/hour, college subjects $45-50/hour, SAT/ACT test prep $30-50/hour, MCAT test prep $50-80/hour. Prices will be lower per person if using a group session. Prices are negotiable.
