About Tyler

As a PGA Professional Instructor for 16 years, I have been able to work with hundreds of military personnel, Tetherow and Bend Golf Club Member's, and Central Oregon players, to move their golf games forward. I beleive in hard work, fundamentals, a positive mental approach and adapting preferred techniques to fit your body, and ability.

As a Golf Expert for Curated.com and a Certified club fitter for most major brands, I am also dedicated to ensuring proper fit equipement for everyone's game.

There is always a true benefit to assisting others acheive their golfing goals. Wether it be breaking 90, getting to scratch, increasing driver distances or simply not three putting, I enjoy doing what I can to help players feel the power of accomplishment. As a Curated.com expert and club fitter I also get to maximize the clubs potential for the player and benefit their games on the equipment side as well.

After college, I decided to take my Professional Ability Test for the PGA in San Diego and become a PGA Professional. From when I was a junior golfer, after taking my first lesson at the age of 7, I've wanted to do the same profession as my instructor and grow the game as he did. After my start in 2005, I have worked in a number of different golf positions all geared towards teaching and growing the game of golf.

I became a PGA Professional Instructor over a decade ago after getting into the sport as a junior, then High School and College player. AS a PGA Professional I have taught hundreds of private lessons, built Junior Golf Programs, coached Junior League Golf, been involved in teaching Wounded Warrior Golf Clinics, Ladies clinics, am a LPGA Teaching Her Certified Golf Instructor, am also PGA Coach Certified, and I have been to numerous PGA Golf seminars on the golf swing and how to properly teach it. I am currently a PGA Proffesional Assistant and Instructor at Bend Golf Club and the Junior League Golf Coach at the facility.

Initially I need to learn some pertinent information about the student. Beyond just the golf swing, I ask about how long they have played, what other sports they have played or play, what other activities they like to do, and what they do for work, all to get an idea how they may adapt, grow, or learn the golf swing. I like to know what the student's goals are in the sport of golf? Is the student looking to compete, in golf as a life long commitment, or looking to beat his or her freinds, and what level of commitment and time they are prepared to give to the game? From this point we can begin to look at swing mechanics, preferences, athletic ability, putting styles, course managment and much more.

Employed for a few very different golf facilities in my career, I have had the pleasure and unique opportunity to work with a wide variety of players with different abilities, styles, and backrounds. As the First Assistant on a Naval Golf Course in San Diego for over 10 years I was employed to help some newer players build solid fundamentals, and scratch golfers improve upon theirs. I have worked diligently over the decade to teach retired military, active duty soldiers, and even some of our wounded personnel how to adapt their golf swings with limited mobility. As the Junior Golf Director at NASNI, a Junior Coach at Tetherow and now at Bend Golf Club, I also have had the fulfilling role of growing junior swings and advancing them for their future endeavors in the game. At Tetherow and now Bend Golf Club, building on my experience with the resort and private communities, my aptitude to pick out poor preferences and flaws in the golf swing have only continued to improve.

I would look for PGA credentials as the PGA supports us all with the appropriate education and enables us to share benificial teaching practices, drills, and methods. Share with your instructor your way of looking at the swing, your swing mechanic preferences and any concerns you have about any aspect of the game. It is always a two way street so make sure your prepared to practice what we teach you and be focused and stretched out for the lesson.

In a round at my home course in San Diego, I was having a decent day but only pushing skins against my three playing partners and wanted more out of my game to put my buddies out of it. From the 16th hole on, I went 3-1-3, or birdie, hole in one, birdie to finish the round, take the victory, and solidify a great scorecard for the day. As with most issues in life, it's never over until it's over and sticking it out until the end is another life lesson golf uncovers. 313 is now stamped on all my wedges.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What your real level of interest is and what kind of effort and time you can bring to work on the techniques. What type of learner you are and how you best relate to knew information about the golf swing. Do you need to feel the swing, see yourself doing it, able to listen well or need all of the above to understand and adapt some of the changes? Will you have an open mind to discussing and implementing new ideas in your swing, scoring game, and putting technique? As we begin to change some things, will you have the patience to drill them into your mind and body so they become repeatable without much attention.
