About Kenti
My teaching approach: For "absolute beginners" I start with note reading, chord playing, proper fingering, basic music theory, and playing simple songs. Material is presented in a graded fashion so the student's learning is enhanced. For intermediate to advanced students I begin sight reading studies, advanced chord playing, scales, improvisation, theory, ear training and more complex songs. Influences include the Beatles, Led Zepplin, Chet Atkins, George Van Eps, Earth Wind and Fire, and many others.
My guitar lessons take place in: The 520 Eight Avenue, NYC, or the student's home.

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following: Cover basics of the guitar, how to hold the instrument, the parts of the guitar, how to hold the pick, the Staff and the basics of reading note and playing chords. By the end of the first lesson, the student has learned how to read notes and is able to play at least 2 notes on the instrument.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following: Each lesson is tailored to the students needs and what's actually covered depends on the students current level of experience. Typically lessons cover how to read notes, chords, left hand and right hand technique, finger style technique. Lessons could also include scales and exercises, chord vocabulary, al applied to playing songs that are of interest to the r student. Lessons are designed to get the student to professional performance levels, depending on the student's goals.
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following: Students of any age from 6 to adult, interested in learning to play or expanding and further developing their existing skill level.
I get satisfaction from watching my students learn and master new techniques on the guitar and developing the kind of relationship with students where they trust the lesson information and have the confidence that they will fulfill their lesson goals.
While taking lessons with Tonny Lee, he suggested I begin teaching as a way to deepen my grasp of the theoretical concepts in music. He then spent several month teaching me how to teach, and coached me as issues came up for the next several years, till his passing in 2015.
I studied music at several music schools including Febbraio School Of Music, Anderson College in Anderson, Indiana, School Of Jazz in New York, and14 years of study with Ronny Lee, a well known music educator.

We begin by learning to read Andre play NOTES and CHORDS using a step by step process by which the student learns to play popular or traditional folk songs. The student learns melody, Harmony, Rhythm, plectrum and or finger-style technique, Scales. As soon as possible, we begin work on tunes the student desires to learn, while adding to the vocabulary of chords, ear training, playing in the upper fingerboard positions and improvising.
i have worked with people from age 2 to over 70 years of age.
Music, like any other complex discipline, is not easily communicated from teacher to student. Without a system, students plateau quickly, and will often get discouraged. Look for someone who has a systemized approach to sharing musical knowledge and who can answer your questions in a way you can understand. Once you find a good teacher, give it at least one year of study.
My last event was a performance at a Holiday Party where everyone loved the music. But I’m most proud of working with each student, especially the children.
