About Curtis
I worked as a software engineer out of college for about 2 years before deciding to get my graduate degree and teaching certificate. In my free time I was a soccer coach and volunteer tutor, and I found that these activities were occupying my mind more often than not. I found passion and joy in helping others that I did not feel in my day job. So, I made a change and I'm so happy with the path that I'm on.
I have a bachelors degree in mathematics and over 10 years of experience playing and recording a variety of musical instruments. I'm currently pursuing a graduate degree in secondary education, and I have over a year of work experience as a tutor. I also volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America as a Big, so I have tons of experience working with students K-12.

I like to start with an informal meeting (over the phone or by video conference) to discuss the student's goals and create a plan for our work together. This gives me the opportunity to set up a lesson plan catered to the student's current abilities, interests, and aspirations. After the first lesson, I like to touch base with students to make sure that we are working well together and moving in the right direction.

Perfect! Curt is a fantastic guitar teacher! He is very knowledgeable in theory and technique. He has an easy going personality and is very patient. Curt is professional and gets straight to the point. He explains concepts very well and makes it look easy! Curt was able to establish a great rapport with my 11-year-old son right away for which I’m very grateful!
