About Alan
Northern Raptor Kung Fu is more than a martial arts school, more than a studio, it is a community of inclusive, supportive individuals.
It is recognized that every student is traveling their own path and learning at their own pace.
I started teaching while I was in the early stages of my training. Whenever I would learn a new thing, I would immediately try to explain it to a less advanced student. If I had difficulty explaining or demonstrating it, I knew that I didn't understand it, and sought my instructor.
I have been through the training, so I know that it's possible to learn the material, and improve in the application of the techniques. I have trained for twenty years and have been teaching for fifteen.

Whenever beginning training with a new student, there is a consultation about expectations, and a physical assessment. These allow the student to express their hopes and intentions, their goals; the instructor gains insight into the abilities of the student.
I have worked with a full spectrum of Humanity, across a broad demographic of age and ability.
