BACKGROUND
I started my school, gym, dojo, with a strong desire to share my knowledge to benefit others. I continue to live and share a healthy lifestyle, and my passion for martial arts. I enjoy helping others achieve their goals, and I believe strongly in being a student for life, as my mentors before me.
I have traveled across the United States to train with some of the best martial artists/teachers/coaches, from Boston to San Diego and many places in between. I seek the best for myself and my students.
Since early childhood I have been fascinated with Martial Arts. After my early machinations of becoming a highly skilled Ninja by age 10 were thwarted by my mother, I finally began formal martial arts studies in Tae Kwon Do/Hapkido for a brief period while serving in the U.S. Army during the first Gulf War.
Having encountered Kung Fu while sparring a friend in the Army (he whooped me), I sought out an instructor a few years after leaving the military; when I was done trying my best to screw up my life. On my quest to right the ship as it were, I began studying Praying Mantis Boxing, Chinese Weapons, and Tai Chi in 1999.
At the behest of my Mantis Boxing teacher, and seeing the value in knowing ground fighting techniques, I have been training, studying, and competing in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu since 2011, and melding the art with my Mantis Boxing,
You are welcome to join me as I share the art of Mantis Boxing and BJJ, in my school, and online. I am happy to see you better than you were yesterday.
Living my dream of sharing the arts I love with other people in the community. Very fortunate.
I was training with my instructor doing private lessons, and practicing on my own 6 days/week. After 9 months, my teacher asked me to help run a beginners class. I quickly saw the benefit of sharing the art with others, and have tried to help people ever since.
19+ years experience.
6th degree Black Belt in Mantis Boxing.
Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What are your goals in martial arts? Competition, casual, self-defense, fitness?
Is there sparring in the training? Sparring in martial arts is a necessary component. Without it, the techniques will either fail, or leave us stunned and clueless if our opponent counters. With that said, the training and conditions for sparring should be safe, and leave us capable of training not only tomorrow, but for years to come.
