About Brandon

A little bit about myself before going into why we should work together to achieve the test scores that you want. My name is Brandon Xie. I am a junior at Duke University studying Economics and Computer Science with a minor in Cinematic Arts. I am a huge movies fan, making a Top 500 movies in history list that you should definitely check out. Shoot me a message if you ever need recommendations.

I will be transparent about my qualifications as a tutor for your standardized testing prep. As a student at Jericho High School, a top 5 public high school in NY, I maintained a 3.99/4.0 GPA. I took 13 APs in total, scoring a 5 on 11 of them (2 4s in senior year). I received a 1510/1520 on the PSAT, achieving National Merit Finalist status. I took the SAT once, scoring a 1580/1600 in the beginning of my junior year (800 Math, 780 English). For my 3 SAT 2 Subject Tests (Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics Level 2), I scored 800 on all of them on my first try.

In addition, I was heavily involved in math and science extracurriculars. I was a Regeneron STS semifinalist, a Biology Olympiad semifinalist, an AIME qualifier three times, along with numerous other state and local awards.

I've dedicated hundreds of hours tutoring students throughout the last few years, from Geometry to middle school math to SAT prep. The best example of how I can help you significantly raise your scores is through a friend of mine. His SAT score was initially in the 1200s; through only a few months of work, he was able to obtain a 1500 that landed him admission to Stanford University.

I know what it takes to elevate your scores and help you get into your dream school/college. The most important part is we'll have a fun time doing it, promise.

About the lesson

I have worked with all kinds of students, ranging from high school seniors to elementary students in educational centers. I will always adjust my teaching process and approach based on the student.

I would recommend looking for teachers with notable achievements in the area and a track record of getting things done. A brilliant mind still needs to be able to convey a concept in terms that everyone can understand.

I tutored one of my close friends I volunteered at a hospital with for his SAT. Through two months of working with him weekly, he was able to raise his SAT score 200+ points to a 1500. This score, along with his extracurriculars, got him into Stanford University.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should think about the level of commitment they are willing to put into achieving their dreams. Even with great strategies and problem solving tips, they need to practice and put in the time themselves to really get to the next level. It's a team sport between the tutor and student.
