About Elena

Hi, I'm Elena! I am a Cornell Graduate where I majored in Operations Research and Information Engineering with a minor in Business. I specialize in SAT/ACT test preparation and college counseling.

In 2018, I went through the college application myself. Having taken those exams and completed the application process recently, I believe I can offer a good perspective on what students should expect and how they can best prepare for this stressful time.

For test preparation, my teaching style centers around a very detail-oriented approach. The SAT and ACT are very pattern-based exams, therefore rather than just completing as many practice exams as possible, I teach my students how the test works. By learning how these tests word certain questions, students are able to perform faster and more accurately. I think holding a true understanding of the concepts being tested is the key to success for not only these tests but also to create a solid foundation for future learning.

For college counseling, I provide a range of services. For younger high school students, I offer advice on course selection, extracurriculars, and general thoughts on how they can best set themselves up for success. For students preparing to apply to college, I provide insights and strategies on how to put their best foot forward. I work directly with students on selecting schools, structuring their applications, brainstorming/drafting/revising essays, and interview preparation.

I enjoy working with students and want to help them achieve their full potential. The college application process is more competitive than ever now and it's so important for students to put their best foot forward. I have been tutoring and providing college application help for the past 5 years to high schoolers. I love seeing my students achieve their goals and get their dream acceptance.
