About Erin
I am currently a student at the University of New Hampshire. I study Theatre/Dance, but I also plant to get my elementary ed certification. As a student I have experienced the ways the education fails students who do not learn clasically. I struggled as a young student feeling as if I just couldn't do school properly, and I was never offered a different approach. As a tutor I offer that different approach that can be so revolutionary for students who are struggling.

I have worked as a substitute teacher in two different school districts, as well as a dance teacher, a nanny, a summer camp counselor, an after school program teacher, a babysitter, etc. I have also taken classes in education, and in most subjects. I speack French at an intermediate/advanced level, and I have worked for years to develop effective studying habits as a student with a processing disorder as well as ADHD.

First I will try to get to know a student a little. What they are interested in, where they struggle, and what makes them happy. Using that knowledge, I will develop a plan where we will work together to figure out what will work best for them: five minute breaks every twenty minutes, a more visual approach, a more hands on/practical approach, a list or schedule of what we will get done, etc. Each child needs something different, and my teaching philosophy is that giving a child the tools and stratigies that THEY need to learn is the best way to make improvements.
