About Amanda

I am an exceptional student myself who loves learning and making learning fun. It is important to me that my students have fun learning and really grasp the material. First, I like to break down the material into simple terms and make real life examples, then we will delve deeper into the more detailed areas of the topic. I have a heart for helping people and students succeed in their work, so I will work and adapt to the individual student's needs.

I am just starting to tutor, however, I am a university student and was an honors student throughout highschool. I also have 5+ years of working with children and nannying. In addition, I am a swim instructor and teach children how to swim. These skills will translate well to tutoring. In highschool, I used a tutor for various subjects and learned a lot from them on how to structure lessons. I plan on taking a topic and finding out where the student is struggling, then go from there.

I have an associate's degree in Science and have an advanced level french diploma. I will have my Bachelor's degree in one year from now in Kinesiology.

I love seeing the prgression students have and seeing them become confident in themselves and their learning. There is nothing better than seeing the information finally click and letting the student do it for him/herself. With a little help and encouragement, students can go a long way.

When I was a high school student I helped an after school program with their student's homework and reading skills. I also have started helping students with reading during the 2020 spring semester to keep their reading skills up as schools closed. I am a swim instructor and have had to learn and adapt to my student's needs.

About the lesson

First, I like to get to know the student a little.I like to find out what they are interested in and figure out their learning style. That helps to create a plan for their success because some students thrive with different styles of learning. Then I like to see where specifically they are struggling. From there I can create a plan to best help them based on their individual needs.
