About John
My adult life has centered on two things (1) Teaching and (2) Listening, playing, and writing piano music. It's the one thing that always makes me feel better. If I feel good, it's always fun to play the piano and experiment with something new that I haven't done before. (2) If I don't feel active, I really enjoy listening to a good, well-done performance on the piano by someone I really like. And there are a LOT of someones to listen to. Generally, I like popular music - but something that is creative and strikes me as Real. I know when it's real and I can Feel the person who wrote it, and knows how to create and express that talent.
That's one of the things I enjoy most about teaching, it's such a pleasure to find a motivated student that I can help and watch them find themselves and discover the fun and the power of music in our own lives. It is such a gift.
