About Sean
I serve my students depending upon their skill levels and needs. I have experienced with teaching 3D Design which is a lower division course for beginners as an adjunct professor at California State University,Fullerton. I am familiar with both traditional and non-traditional approaches in creating sculptures. I‘m a member of International Sculpture Organzation. I interact with contemporary sculptors through sculpture conference and College of Art Association conference every year.
I taught mixed-media sculpture courses for 7-9yrs and 10-14yrs students at Barnsdall Art Center, California.
I also taught 15-17yrs students mold making and body casting for ceramic sculpture and production pottery at Lamoille Union High School, Vermont.
Sculpture is a hands-on experience. Depending upon student’s goals and needs, I can help your goals be accomplished.
I’ve been invited as Artist in Residence at Vermont Studio Center in 2017.
I’ve been awarded a Teaching Fellowship at Vermont Studio Center in 2018.
As a graduate student, I started teaching 3D Design as a teaching associate at California State University, Fullerton. After I graduated, I taught 3D Design as an adjunct professor at California State University, Fullerton.
I’ve earned Master’s degree of Fine Arts, in Sculpture at California State University, Fullerton. That’s a terminal degree in Studio art. I have extensive knowledge in traditional and non-traditional practices in Sculpture.
Mold making: pressure mold for clay casting, rubber mold for plaster and wax casting. food safe slicone mold for chocolate casting.
Casting:body casting, plaster casting, cement casting, resin casting, clay casting, sand casting, bronze casting if necessary.
Kinetic sculpture: automata, motorized kinetic sculpture.
Installation: site-specific, installation video, photo montage, three-dimensional collage.

When you go to see a doctor, your doctor’d ask questions about your symptoms in order to diagnose your conditions accordingly. I can help you figure out what sculpture is and what sculpture could possibly be based on the history of art.
The premise is that “Every student is different and unique in their talents and individualities.” The first step is to diagnose my student’s goals. Then I,as an instructor, would plan out a lesson plan for you. Creating Sculpture is process oriented. I love to give constructive feedbacks as the project proceeds. For beging and advanced level, I plan out different lesson plans for individual needs to bring out uniqueness of each student since one size doesn’t fit all.

I would ask simple questions “What’re your goals? Why do you want to learn Sculpture amongst different art formats?”. If you still want to learn sculpture, please find an artist who understands your objectives and who has a passion for his/her/their arts. That’s because that passion will be translated to his lesson plans. Being an artist is not about walking on the paved road. It often involves pitfalls and unexpected results whether it’s happy accident or a failure. Being creative is fulfilling. Be curious!! Don’t be afraid of trying new things!!
The students that I’ve shared my expertise have been very productive during teaching fellowship at Lamoille Union High School. They’re going to have a student show soon. My students wrote thank you cards as my teaching appointment came to the end. That was very rewarding and made me feel fulfilled.
My students in ART SAFARI and ART SMART at Barnsdall Art Center will have a student show at Barnsdall Junior Art Gallery on April. I am very proud of their accomplishments as aspiring artists.
