About Kimberly
Students join Kimberly Moller's Vocal Studio to get help preparing for auditions, performances, sight-reading and choral music and strengthening their voice for other purposes in a warm, nurturing (air-conditioned!) environment. Serious high school students join her studio in order to prep for college music program auditions. She accepts younger students on a case-by-case basis, depending on their ability to practice and make progress. It is a place where college students can keep up their study maintain their vocal health and technique while in school if they are not voice majors or come home for the summer. Kimberly is stylistically open and helps students with repertoire from classical and musical theater to jazz and pop/contemporary. Other singers study with Kimberly because they find that music helps them to combat stress and strengthen their voice in the workplace.
Kimberly is an experienced teacher/performer and has maintained private voice studio for 8 years. She has a Masters in Vocal Performance from Boston University, a Performance Diploma in Voice and a Bachelors in Vocal Performance from Webster University. Her mentors include Penelope Bitzas (BU), Andrew Byrne (New York), Mary Saunders Barton (Penn State), Christine Armistead (WASHU). She has taught for New England Conservatory Prep, Concord Conservatory, The Bedford Youth Performing Company, Boss Academy of the Performing Arts. She is now a candidate for an MFA in Musical Theater at San Diego State University 2018.
She provides a strong classically-based technique, and she helps her students develop a healthy belt and head mix, stage presence, and helps them to be expressive musical artists and performers in any style. Singers will learn about releasing tension, breath, resonance, voice pedagogy and work on transitions between registers, develop strength and perform with confidence in addition to learning how to read music and be musical.
I love learning from my students and helping them find freedom in getting to know how they learn and about their individual instrument.
I initially started teaching in college to earn money while I was trying to pay for my education. I fell in love with it and have been balancing teaching with performing ever since. It's my passion!
I have an MFA in Musical Theatre from San Diego State University, an MM in Vocal performance (Boston University) and a BM in Voice Pedagogy (Webster University). I've also been through a course called Essentials of Elite Fitness with Z-Health - which has helped me learn about the brain, the body and how to improve singing by assisting better movement and inputs to the brain. My research has been on Belt: The Back-Line Posterior Chain and muscle flossing and activation. I love making new discoveries about what works for different bodies and voices!

I spend about 20-30 minutes in your first lesson getting to know you and your voice, and I help you get an understanding of what I'm looking for as a teacher. Then I want to hear you in action! We apply technical concepts to repertoire you bring - or I pick something out for you to sing.
all different kinds - advanced or committed children with supportive parents, middle schoolers, serious high school students looking to apply for competitive college programs, college students, adults, those who enjoy it and just want to feel more comfortable speaking in the workplace, seniors.
Make sure the teacher is the right fit for you and that you give it a few lessons to decide if you can see yourself making progress and achieving your goals. Also, be upfront about what you want and how much committment you are looking for.
I had a Smash themed recital last year and we did a Holiday recital which is an anual thing. I also recently sang with Kristin Chenoweth in a small private event for The San Diego Symphony at The Music Box. I have a reel of performances by students on my website and youtube channel.
