About David
I am an internationally renowned voice teacher in Music Theater, Pop/Rock, and Classical techniques. I have performed on and off Broadway, at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and in theaters and concert stages around the world. I am a two-term president of the New York Singing Teachers Association (2008 - 2014). And, I am also on faculty at Montclair State University, and Fordham University in New York City. I have taught students at all levels for the past 25+ years. And, my studio is represented by many students on and off Broadway, working in the field today.
The greatest joy for me is to see (and hear) a student make true progress, and then go on to realize their vocal and career potential.
I started teaching 25+ years ago, while still actively performing, and have continued teaching and performing throughout my career.
I have both academic and professional experience in both performance and pedagogy. I have performed on Broadway, and on Opera and concert stages around the world. I have also recorded several albums and appeared in cabaret and solo concerts to great critical acclaim.

I work with each student individually, taking into account their own mode of learning. After a vocal assessment I formulate a progress plan and give (lead the student through) various vocal excersises to strengthen both their ability and understanding of their voice and the genre(s) they wish to perform in.
we generally do about 20 minutes of vocal exercises and 40 minutes of work on songs. However, it may take a few weeks to work up to this model.
I generally work with professional, or aspiring professional, singers, college age, highly motivated high school age, and rarely the young school age child who is on a musical career path, (and upon the recommendation of another industry professional - agent, casting director, music director, etc.)

I have worked with David both as a student and a colleague. Of my many (94) voice teachers over the years, I would say he is my go-to upper-registration and contemporary voice specialist. Most importantly, however, he applies genre-specific interpretation work at an EARLY stage, so students are never locked down "listening" to their sound. Highly recommended.
David is an amazing teacher. I've been with him for a few years and he never fails to offer me really good feedback. My voice has changed so much and is now right where I need it to be. He is especially good with belting, but also an excellent legit/classical teacher. He's no doubt one of the top voice studios in Manhattan - really a world-class instructor.
