About Peter
I am a special education teacher in 9th,10th, and 11th grade literature at Johns Creek High School. NOTE I CANNOT TUTOR STUDENTS THAT ATTEND JOHNS CREEK HIGH SCHOOL. I can tutor students at Autrey Mill Middle School, but will have to end services before attending the high school. I have teaching certificate in special education with a reading endorsement. I have been teaching since 2014. I have an extensive background in teaching multiple subjects. Due to my study of special education, I have become an expert in designing instruction. I am currently working towards a master's in Applied Behavior Analysis.

I enjoy the problem-solving aspect of teaching in special education. I consider myself not just a teacher, but a analyst as well. I never hold on to any of my teaching strategies; if I find that something doesn't work, then I scrap it and start over again.
I started substituting in Fulton County Schools where I found I had a lot of fun working with students in special education. I have found that I really enjoy crafting behavioral and instructional interventions. In 2015, I enrolled in a special education teaching certificate program at Georgia State University. I focused my studies around teaching students with low and high functioning autism and received an endorsment in reading instruction. I began student teaching at Ison Springs Elementary and Duluth High School in classroom for students with Autism. I then began a half semester in JG Magill Elementary School in Snellville. I then moved over to Independence High School working in an Autism classroom for students with severe behavioral disorders. This school year, I have started a job working as a team teacher in 9-11th grade literature classrooms at Johns Creek High School.
I have a bachelor's degree in History, a teaching certificate in special education with a focus on autism spectrum disorders, a reading endorsement, and I am pursuing a master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis.

I would first ask to see what material they are working with and where their strengths and weaknesses are in the class. I would then ask them about their studying strategies.
I have worked with students with severe to moderate intellectual disabilities, autism, down's syndrome, and other intellectual disabilities. Recently, I have been working with students with a range of exceptionalities such as ADHD, high functioning autism, dyslexia, and specific learning disabilities.
While I have much experience with students in special education, I am constantly working with all of the students in my classroom and have found that many of my teaching strategies work well for all students.
If you find that your teachers in your class do not give you the help you need to succeed, then I am the tutor you need. I am a big proponent of direct instruction, scaffolding, and breaking things down into easy to digest steps.
I was able to visit my wife's family in Mexico over the Thanksgiving break and was able to visit three different states over there!
