About Kirstin
I graduated from Queen's University Belfast with a First Class BA (Hons) in English and History. I've studied both literature and language, with a focus on Shakespeare, contemporary and African literature, language in the media and phonetic production. In history, I've written a dissertation with original research on apartheid in South Africa, and studied the American Civil Rights Movement, Thatcher's Britain, inter-war Europe and public history. I also have a TEFL/TESOL certificate.
I worked in South Korea as an ESL teacher for 8 months, volunteered as a teaching assistant in Northern Ireland for two years, tutored in an after school literacy and numeracy programme in Northern Ireland for transfer test candidates for one year, and spent three summers as a teaching and community volunteer in Cape Town. I have been helping friends review their essays and dissertations for years, and I currently teach ESL online to students around the world, with my students varying all the way from Chinese kindergarteners to Brazilian doctors.

Every student is different, and as a result, every lesson should be different! In our first session, I'll find out where we should focus our efforts and develop a learning plan based on your needs.
I'm happy to help with essays in English, English Literature and History, ranging from GCSE level to undergraduate.
There are a few different options available, depending on your needs. Here are some suggested formats:
I'll provide written feedback and do some corrections on an essay. Then, in a 30 minute session, we can talk about the suggestions and work together for ways to improve your writing in the future.
Alternatively, if there is a specific area you know you struggle in, I can give guidance in this area, and set a short writing assignment for you to practice what you've learned.
I prefer to conduct my classes via Skype or Zoom, but I can travel to students in the local area (a supplemental charge may apply - contact me for details).
