About Kai

I have always loved talking about chess and helping others to get a better understanding of the game, you can see through my YouTube channel (Kaipablanca) where I have made videos ranging from learning topics, to fun stories I wanted to share! I can show you the "whys" behind chess rather than just giving you the stress of lines to remember like most coaches. I like to have relaxed lessons where you can talk open and freely about the things you are struggling with. Open to all ages! It's never too late or too early to start learning chess!

About the lesson

Our lessons will be a relaxed environment where you can learn chess at your own pace, helping you to find your strengths and weaknesses without the stress of tonnes of work! Lessons will be an hour long, with the first lesson being a casual game to identify your current level. From there we will build a plan together to speed up your improvement!

Kai is a great coach and helped bring my game to the next level. I struggled to get better and kept getting frustrated when losing end games after having an advantage. Kai helped me realise I need to take more time with the way I play. In all honesty, it didn't feel like he was a coach. It felt like he was a good friend helping me get better at chess. I will always appreciate his help and judgement thank you kai!

Very engaging lesson, beginner friendly. Kai explains chess strategies very clearly and is easy to understand. In the first lesson, he helped me to understand my current level and identify gaps in my knowledge of chess. Would recommend him to anyone who wants to start playing chess as a new hobby or even intermediate players who want to improve their skills in chess!

Kai, thank you so much for supporting my son to instill the joy of chess. He loves it and remembers every word of every technique you teach. In a couple of lessons you've managed to engage a 5 year old is amazing. Thank you!
