About Lochlain
I am a dedicated tutor specialising in GCSE and A-Level Design & Technology. As a GB athlete and former student of The Royal Grammar School, I bring both discipline and academic excellence to my teaching. My background helps me connect with students, motivate them to push their limits, and show them how consistent effort leads to results. With experience guiding students through both coursework and exams, I understand the challenges that DT presents and how to overcome them. My lessons are designed to build confidence, develop practical skills, and help students achieve their full potential. I pride myself on being patient, supportive, and highly organised, ensuring every session is tailored to the individual.

I take a structured but tailored approach to tutoring Design and Technology, focusing on both coursework and exam technique. Every student learns differently, so I begin by identifying strengths and areas for improvement, then tailor lessons to meet their individual goals. Lessons are typically 30 or 60 minutes, depending on what works best for the student. Sessions combine short explanations with interactive tasks — such as breaking down exam questions, refining coursework ideas, or practising CAD techniques step by step. I use real examples and past papers so students can apply what they learn directly to their school work. I have extensive experience supporting GCSE and A-Level students through the full DT process; from early design sketches, materials selection and prototyping, to writing evaluations and preparing for long answer questions. Many of my students find coursework overwhelming — my role is to make it manageable, methodical, and high scoring. My lessons are aimed at secondary school students (GCSE) and sixth-form/college students (A-Level) who want to improve confidence, boost grades, or need expert guidance on coursework. Whether you’re aiming for top marks or just want extra clarity, I adapt my approach to suit your needs.
