About Helgaardt
I am a Financial Accounting student at UNISA and a dedicated educator with a passion for digital efficiency. In my university studies, I work with complex data sets and high-level spreadsheet modeling daily. This professional exposure to the Microsoft Office Suite allows me to teach Computer Applications Technology (CAT) not just as a school subject, but as a critical tool for future academic and professional success.
My background in the Kumon system has instilled in me a disciplined, step-by-step approach to mastery which I apply to every CAT session. I am interested in teaching this subject because I see many students struggle with the Practical Assessment Task (PAT) and the technical nuances of database relationships or Excel functions. I take pride in breaking down these "intimidating" technical concepts into logical, manageable frameworks. My goal is to equip my students with the digital confidence to ace their practicals and the structured study habits required to dominate their theory papers. I bring the same level of academic rigor and mechanical logic to my CAT tutoring that I use to succeed in my own university finance modules.

Computer Applications Technology is often misunderstood as just "learning how to type," but true mastery lies in digital efficiency and logical data management. As a Financial Accounting student, I use high-level Excel and complex data structures daily to solve real-world problems. I teach CAT students how to master the practical components of the syllabus while maintaining the rigorous discipline needed to ace the theory papers.
I bridge the gap between basic computer usage and the technical requirements of the Grade 10-12 syllabus. We focus heavily on the Practical Assessment Task (PAT), where many students lose easy marks due to a lack of structure. Using screen-sharing and real-time execution, I watch your workflow and correct your spreadsheet logic or database relationships instantly.
Every session is conducted via a high-intensity online environment and is recorded for your 24/7 review. This is particularly helpful for CAT, as you can re-watch specific "how-to" steps for Access or Excel functions whenever you get stuck on an assignment. Details
Since CAT is a purely digital and practical subject, all sessions are conducted Online-Only. This allows us to use real-time screen sharing and software walkthroughs while ensuring zero travel costs for the student.
Standard Rate (Grade 10-12): R200 per hour.
Free Introductory Session:
I offer a free 45-minute introductory session via Google Meet. We usually use this time to look at your current PAT (Practical Assessment Task) progress or a specific practical module (like Access or Excel) that is causing friction.
Booking & Payment Policy:
To ensure we can effectively plan for your PAT deadlines and exam cycles, sessions are billed upfront in monthly blocks (4-week packages). This locks in your time slot and ensures we have the momentum to cover both practical and theory components.
Cancellation Policy:
I operate on a basis of mutual respect. While payment is upfront to secure the slot, I do not charge for sessions missed due to genuine illness or emergencies. Any missed session credit will simply carry over to our next scheduled meeting.
