About Darcy
Two of my favorite things are teaching and talking about American History! So, I hope to become a professor when I complete my Ph.D. program. Before returning to school I taught American Government and all periods of American History in community colleges and universities for over ten years. I have also taught history to grade school, junior high, and high school students. I have a lot of experience assisting students of all ages with writing as well. I realize many people think they "hate history" and to that I say - let me tell you a story! That is really what history is, fascinating stories that teach us about the people and events of the past. Those stories reveal themes, trends, and consequences that shape our understanding of not just the past, but also of how we got where we are today. I am so excited to meet you and explore American History together!

Each session will be tailored to the individual student. I have tutored students from elementary school to college seniors. So, I can meet you where you're at! The first step is to find out where that is. We'll start with a discussion about what you are studying, what you find difficult to understand, and what you need to accomplish - whether it be pass an exam or write a paper. I prefer conversations over lectures so our lessons will be highly interactive as we talk through events and themes in American history. Critical thinking and analysis is the key to understanding history. You will have as much time as needed to ask questions but be prepared to answer them too!
