About Maryam

As an FAU graduate in Biological Sciences with a strong foundation in both academics and real-world experience, I bring a well-rounded, professional approach to tutoring. My work history includes roles at Dunkin, Publix, and as a Patient Care Technician, where I developed strong interpersonal skills and a dedication to service. My volunteer work with organizations such as Trustbridge, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Morselife, and the Muslim Community of Palm Beach County has reinforced my commitment to helping others. Additionally, I have shadowed in diverse healthcare settings, enriching my understanding of science and healthcare. This blend of academic knowledge, work experience, and community involvement allows me to connect with students of all backgrounds, inspire confidence, and support them in achieving their goals.

About the lesson

As an FAU graduate with a passion for teaching, I bring personalized, engaging methods to help you excel in math, science, and college prep. Whether you're just starting out or need advanced support, I tailor each lesson to fit your unique learning style, ensuring you gain both confidence and knowledge. With a deep understanding of academic challenges, I’m here to guide you step-by-step toward achieving your goals. Let’s make learning enjoyable and impactful together!

My Teaching Method and Techniques:
I focus on a student-centered, adaptive approach that tailors lessons to each individual’s learning style and goals. I incorporate visual aids, real-world examples, and interactive activities to make complex topics more understandable and engaging. I aim to cultivate a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring new concepts. My goal is not just to teach information but to empower students to think critically and solve problems independently.

A Typical Lesson Plan:
Each lesson begins with a brief review of previous concepts to reinforce knowledge and identify areas needing clarification. I then introduce new material, breaking it down into manageable steps with practical examples. Lessons include hands-on exercises, practice problems, and periodic check-ins to gauge understanding. Toward the end, we discuss any questions, and I assign targeted practice tasks to strengthen comprehension. For college prep, I also cover time management, test strategies, and application tips.

What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor:
My experience as a first-generation college graduate with a biology degree from FAU allows me to understand the academic and personal challenges students face, especially in rigorous subjects. I blend a strong science foundation with empathy and adaptability, aiming to motivate students at any level and support them toward academic and personal growth.

Who the Lessons Are For:
I offer lessons for all levels, from middle school through undergraduate studies. I’m here to support students needing help with algebra, geometry, and science subjects (biology, marine science, etc.), as well as those preparing for college with focused academic coaching and application guidance.
