About Yves
I am Yves, a multi-instrumentalist specialized in scoring for Film and Visual Media. I entered the Lebanese Superior National Conservatory of Music at the age of 9 and focused primarily on classical piano. I was introduced to modern improvisation at the age of 16. Seeing classical practice bear fruit in improvisational ability was a big factor in deepening my love and appreciation for both, and in increasing my understanding of music theory. I went into computer science but found that my passion is music. I studied musicology and composition, and later got my master's degree with first-class honors in scoring for film. Professionally, I work on an international level in music composition, orchestration, and live performance as a pianist.

I believe that a good understanding of music is essential to good performance and creativity later on, which is why I combine piano performance, technique, and theory. I start with the basics of sight-reading, scales, building proper hand position, hand independence, and foundations of proper technique at a beginner level. Since it is important for students to feel a sense of accomplishment and happiness through doing a song they want to do, I give occasional songs as rewards for milestones achieved. At an intermediate level, I go on with classical technique but delve deeper into theory, scales, degrees, functions of notes, improvisation.
