About Amelia
I've known since primary school that I wanted a degree in English Literature, and I've known since I completed my GCSEs that I wanted to become a teacher. I have studied texts from Milton's Paradise Lost to Shakespeare to the Romantic poets to contemporary postcolonial literature, and have found the range to be so fulfilling and genuinely exciting! I know English isn't for everyone. Even if you enjoy reading, it's really tough to articulate your points in an essay format, or to get on board with some of the language and context in the older texts -- so I aim to encourage more people to find confidence in their writing and reading through tutoring and, eventually, teaching. I understand the value of shifting pace and focus for each individual, so I take feedback incredibly seriously, and will adapt to suit your needs to the best of my ability. I appreciate education isn't a one-size-fits-all system, and will reflect that in my lessons :)

I tailor my sessions to the client's working style/areas for improvement, sessions run for 1 hour, and are broken up into close-reading practice, essay planning and, following the marking criteria, building confidence in hitting Assessment Objectives effectively. I specialise in AQA and Edexcel papers, however I am flexible. I have tutored informally for a year, and commit myself to planning a few exercises so you get the most for your time without overwhelming you with content.
