About Karen
From a very young age I loved maths, but as I got older, particularly when I made the jump from primary to secondary school, I noticed the language surrounding maths turned from positive to negative. Through a challenging Leaving Certificate year, I developed my own way of learning maths outside of the textbook.
Through college, this method continued to work, consistently question what I knew about maths, and how I could improve. This is all relevant as in my 6 year teaching, this is what I bring to my classes, breaking it down and asking why we apply theorem X or what happens when it is applied.
Outside of this, I really enjoy sport and sport statistics. I enjoy teaching as I really like seeing others thrive and meeting their own goals. Regardless of the level, I can promise a positive and calm environment learning maths.

My lessons are exam focused (if that is what is wanted by the student) or for others, a slow paced environment.
Regardless of the pace of the lesson, the tuition is thorough and clear, we will achieve your end goal together.
Something I struggled with as a student, was the panic and stress that comes with maths, particularly when it didn't make sense.
I am here to make it enjoyable, in a calm and non stressful environment. I also offer support outside the lesson if required by the student, for example, correcting exam papers.
The typical lesson length depends on ability, a usual primary school class would be maximum 45 minutes, but for a 6th year student could be between 50 minutes to one hour 30 minutes, which would be agreed with the student.
