About Sakura
I am a painter, mainly using oil, pigment and acrylic. I am based in Brighton, I was born in Kyoto and lived in London and now in Brighton. I have graduated MA fine art with a distinction and Fashion design degree from Central Saint Martins. I was taught Japanese calligraphy from the age of three by my mother who was a trained teacher in Kyoto and attended Buddhism school. I have and worked as designer/illustrator in London for designers like Katherine Hamnett and in Tokyo before becoming a painter. I am very passionate about art and design, I believe art plays an important role relating happiness and fulfillment in life. I am open to teach people of all ages and experiences.

My teaching method is to work with the students and lessons are tailored specifically to each students, . I can teach how to paint expressively or teach you to draw traditionally. If you are an absolute beginner, I have been there and it will be my pleasure to help you to make a start. If you would like to up your skills, technically and artistically, I can show you many tools how to achieve that. One of my aim is to teach you skills so you can go on learning as long as you carry on, even after you leave my classes with confidence.
