About Emily
I have been tutoring students since 2019, supporting learners across a range of ages and abilities. I have tutored students from Years 7–13 in these subjects:
- Mathematics (incl. Calculus)
- Physics
- Economics
- Business Studies
- Biology
- General science
- Basic accounting
I also provide guidance on scholarship applications, extracurricular advice, university applications, subject selection, and future study pathways. Drawing on my own experiences applying to universities in New Zealand, the US, and the UK, I help students identify their strengths, explore opportunities, and make informed decisions about their academic goals.
I graduated from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Engineering (Engineering Science) with First Class Honors and a Bachelor of Commerce in Economics and Finance. At school, I achieved NCEA Excellence endorsements across Years 11–13, with school subject prizes in Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Accounting and Economics as well as NZQA Scholarships. I have also received offers to study at Oxford, Cambridge and Ivy League universities at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

I believe every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to their goals, learning style, and current level. My approach is to develop a strong understanding of core concepts before applying them through exam-style questions and problem-solving. Rather than teaching students to memorise methods, I help them understand the reasoning behind each concept so they can confidently tackle unfamiliar problems. Most importantly, I want students to enjoy learning, build confidence, and experience those “aha” moments where challenging problems become much easier to break down and solve.
