About Alec
I am a friendly, enthusiastic and motivated postgraduate student who has just graduated from the University of Nottingham with a first-class honours in Mathematics and Economics. I am extending my studies this year by undertaking a master's degree in financial risk management at the University of Leeds.
I have previous experience tutoring maths to GCSE students whilst in college and university and had very successful results, with both the student and parent being extremely satisfied with my services. Whilst tutoring I like to take a hands-on approach, working through examples with the student first to show how I would break down and approach a question, then allow the students to attempt questions independently to ensure the methodology is understood and absorbed, stepping in for assistance when necessary.
I am an approachable person who is easy to get on with and always aim to make lessons as engaging and enjoyable as possible. I believe that alongside exceptional results, student satisfaction is of upmost importance and I guarantee that both students and parents will be content with my services.

Alec Lee was known to me through work and successfully tutored my 15 year old son on a weekly basis for a few months leading up to and thus helping him gain his maths GCSE.
During my secondary school years I always struggled in my maths and when I was approaching my fourth year and was deciding what steps I would be taking towards my future career I knew that I would need to have my GCSE in maths and my current grade of a 4 which was only just cutting the pass mark and was in desperate need of improvement.
Being a family friend of Alec and knowing his ceil Ascottpability in maths I asked if he would be able to help me out, in which he accepted and we would get started straight away.
Expanding and factorising Brackets was the first topic we started on as it was completely out of my depth but Alec was keen to teach me as it would open my eyes to so many other topics in maths I had struggled with, the idea of having a letter such as X or Y in mathematics equation always confused me but after one hour session lesson with Alec I could say I probably could teach other people what I now knew because I felt so confident, I would go into my next maths class and complete all tasks being 100% correct.
At the end of every topic in maths we would have an end of topic assessment to show our progress and room for improvement as it was crucial that we would do the best we could before our final GCSE, we had an end of topic test on expanding and factorising brackets in which I got a total result of 96% which was the highest in my class and my classmates knowing how much I struggled were in disbelief, as time went on and Alec had tutored me throughout the year I had received an award from the maths department titled "Most Improved" which was out of my whole year group.
I can not express enough how talented Alec is.
Thank you Alec :)

Parents Perspective:
Alec is a good family friend of ours and started tutoring Finn whilst he was studying maths at college after leaving Farnham Heath End School, where he was head boy.
Finn was struggling with his maths at the time and we got the two together in the hope Alec could help progress in this subject, with the two of them not being too much of an age difference.
What a transformation in Finn’s approach to the subject, he moved from total disinterest to actually enjoying maths.
I am convinced if it hadn’t been for Alec and Finn’s change of view on maths Finn would not have achieved the results he got. He now is in an occupation where he’s using the most important subject (I believe) maths. He now realises that maths is a subject totally required in life.
My wife and myself accredit this to Alec.
Thank you Alec.
