About Dawn
Engaging, patient tutor for English, German and Mandarin Chinese. With a bachelor's degree in foreign language studies and a master's in world/comparative literature, I have a rich experience in language, culture and literature studies. I have gained unique perspectives and skills as a foreign language learner for multiple languages, not only in terms of how to score better on exams but more importantly, how to engage with language study in a fun and inspiring way in their daily lives. These perspectives are found particularly useful in helping other students improve their language skills.
I have been offering tuition since I was in university and have helped students with IELTS, test DaF (A1-C1) and Chinese language acquisition and have received consistently positive feedback. I recently helped a student improve her IELTS scores from 6.5 to 7.5 in two months and started an exciting Chinese language journey together with an eight-year-old.

I like to get to know each student, work collaboratively and tailor the teaching approach according to the needs of the student, whether for a beginner or for an advanced. If you are cramming for an exam, we could work together to crack the code of the text, and if you have a broader interest in languages and cultures beyond the learning outcomes, we could move our way from real-life situations and conversations to culture and art with a more freewheeling approach. I am always down to give feedback for language problems and make friends along the way.
