About Leslie
I am a current high school English teacher. Before switching to high school, I taught college composition for 10 years and worked as both a tutor and a director of college writing centers for over 10 years. I have Bachelors degrees in English and Human Development in Learning, Masters degrees in both English and teaching, and all but my dissertation towards my Ph.D. in English.

I teach writing by focusing on large issues first--those that affect the overall content of a text, such as main idea, organization, and development. Once those issues are addressed, I focus on polishing ideas through word choice, sentence structure, and grammar.
I give focused feedback to avoid overwhelming students, and I always point out positives in students' writing. I know that college and graduate school personal essays are some of the hardest to write, and I love helping students find the personal story that makes those essays effective.
