About Katie
I started tutoring others in high school and continued throughout college. I attended university on a full-scholarship and then worked in investment banking and private equity for 4 years. Over the last year, I began tutoring again while working as a substitute teacher and I LOVE it! I have tutored over 50 students in the last year.
For the core group of students I've consistently tutored over the past year, not only has their maths scores improved, but their level of enthusiasm for maths has grown remarkably.
On the days I'm teaching, I give students the option to go to recess or stay in and work on more maths together. There's always a group of 7 students who choose to learn more with me!

My goal is not only to teach students how to get the right answer, but I want them to be able to conceptualize the topics which creates deeper understanding. Most recently, I've given maths lessons from 4th-7th grade but I've also tutored university students.
I really like to understand the individual and how s/he currently approaches different concepts. I'd like to know what the student's goals are and how we can work together to achieve them. I love engaging with students in discussion about what they are learning and where they might benefit from a different approach or an alternative explanation.
