About Portia Putatunda
I am Portia Putatunda, a 33-year-old Bengali woman born in Ranchi, Jharkhand, who grew up in Kolkata, Ranchi, New Delhi, Noida, and Mumbai, presently working as an educator in Kaza, Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh.
Currently, I run a small library here in Kaza and a primary learning center for the children under the Planet Spiti Foundation that I founded and registered this year, finally. The center has about 45 students who love to come in excited to learn new things every day. As I had quit my job as a News Producer with CNN-News18 in 2019, traveling and keeping up with an initiative like this was just not an easy decision. I earn no salary from the foundation, and also, I am the lone person who is committed to the initiative full-time.
