About Isla
My journey in teaching French began with a fascination for the language, its culture, and its literary richness. I earned a B.A. in French Linguistics and Cultural Studies, acquiring a solid foundation in phonetics, grammar, stylistics, and pedagogy. Over 10 years, I have worked with students from diverse backgrounds and skill levels, helping them gain confidence, fluency, and practical communication skills.
I teach with patience, encouragement, and adaptability, tailoring lessons to each student’s needs and goals. Lessons combine grammar instruction, conversational practice, cultural insights, and writing exercises, fostering both linguistic competence and expressive confidence. I focus on cultivating independence, analytical thinking, and a genuine appreciation for the language.
Outside teaching, I remain engaged with French literature, media, and culture to enrich lessons with authentic examples. French instruction is deeply rewarding because I witness learners develop fluency, cultural understanding, and confidence, enabling them to communicate effectively, express themselves clearly, and engage meaningfully with Francophone contexts.

Lesson plans are personalized to each learner’s skill level. Beginners focus on pronunciation, basic grammar, essential vocabulary, and simple conversational sentences. Intermediate learners explore complex grammatical structures, extended dialogues, reading comprehension, and cultural nuances. Advanced learners refine fluency, stylistic accuracy, advanced conversation, writing sophistication, and exam preparation. Each session blends interactive exercises, guided practice, and detailed feedback to ensure meaningful and measurable language progress.
French lessons also cultivate broader linguistic awareness, cultural sensitivity, and practical communication skills. Students develop confidence in speaking, reading, and writing, while gaining an appreciation for Francophone culture.
