About Deborah
A lifelong love of English literature drives my commitment as a tutor. After two decades of working in the public sector as a politics graduate, I returned to higher education. I was awarded a First-class Honours degree in English literature and an MA in English. Since then, I have delivered private and group tuition and have dedicated my time to becoming an expert in the key stage 4 curriculum.

I have Enhanced DBS clearance with a daily check to ensure that the parents of my students are assured of total transparency and peace of mind.
I'm a committed and friendly English tutor with over nine years of teaching experience. An MA in English, a First-class (Hons) BA in English literature, and further qualifications in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ADHD Awareness, and Understanding Children and Young People's Mental Health qualify my expertise in English and professional support of young people.
My aim is to motivate learning and nurture every student's self-belief.
Tuition sessions allow me to: - Deliver fun and engaging lessons that motivate your teenager to learn - Clearly explain challenging literary texts and topics - Develop your child's confidence as their academic potential is realised - Develop the most helpful teaching strategies and educational resources - Nurture and encourage clear and accurate verbal and written responses - Help your teenager to master revision and exam techniques
Texts taught for English GCSE (AQA, Edexcel and OCR) and iGCSE (Cambridge and Edexcel) include: Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, A Christmas Carol, The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Journey’s End, Of Mice and Men, Animal Farm, An Inspector Calls, View from a Bridge, Lord of the Flies, and the poetry, fiction and non-fiction anthologies.
