About James
‘Does someone who specialises in Biology make a good English tutor?’ The answer is, of course, yes. I am passionate about the intersection of biology and the humanities. Therefore, I often tutor in a way that stimulates critical thinking. I believe that learning is lifelong and I strive to create a friendly and inclusive environment for all students.

My lessons are tailored entirely according to the student’s goals and needs. Is it Shakespeare that you’re looking for? Help with academic English? Or are you daunted by the prospect of a timed ‘creative’ task, as you perspire heavily under the cruel scrutiny of the clock?
I encourage my younger students to see English in the lens of film, music and theatre. I use my creative leadership training from the National Youth Theatre and my experience as a Biology and Latin tutor to make them excel at all aspects of comprehension and composition. With older students, they usually require finessing with their essays and I’m very happy to provide detailed feedback.
