About Edward
Edward Collins (BSC) Hons is an experienced drummer with over 20 years of experience in percussion. Learn from a Veteran Drummer Drumming has been my full-time passion since the age of five. As a dedicated and passionate teacher, I take great pleasure in sharing my extensive knowledge of the instrument and the wide variety of music that inspires me. I have been fortunate to study under some exceptional musicians and educators, including the incredible Mark Richardson of Skunk Anansie, as well as the technically skilled Ian Aguado-Bush during my early years. I also owe much to my lecturers and tutors at Solent University, whose encouragement helped solidify my path following the completion of my degree in Music and Performance. One-on-one lessons are held at the professional and acoustically refined Green Room Studios in Witney, Oxfordshire; an ideal setting where we can make noise and truly immerse ourselves in the music. As a patient and attentive instructor, I tailor my lessons to each student’s individual pace, helping them prepare for real-world performance. I focus on creating an encouraging environment, with goal-oriented lessons designed to foster progress. For those interested, I also offer preparation for Rockschool’s RSL grades, which can contribute to UCAS points for university applications. I teach a variety of styles, including Metal, Rock, Pop, R&B, Funk, Reggae, and Ska, among others. My approach is rooted in building a solid foundation that can be applied across all genres. I emphasise the importance of good posture, proper technique, and the use of hearing protection to ensure long-term healthy drumming. With experience teaching both beginners and young students, I instil values such as musicality, tone, feel, and technical proficiency. I firmly believe that with the right mindset and dedication, anyone can become an accomplished drummer. Extensive Experience in the Music Industry With over ten years of drumming experience, I have had the privilege of working extensively within the live music scene across England. My primary project has been my Metal band, Bloodshot, with whom I’ve released a highly successful EP and two singles. For over a decade, we’ve performed across the country, sharing the stage with renowned acts. Notably, we’ve had the honour of opening for KING 810, who have toured arenas alongside the legendary Slipknot. Our band has also shared the stage with groups such as Bloodshot Dawn, Evil Scarecrow, Ingested, Red Method, Krysthla, Hacktivist, Osiah, and many others. In addition to my drumming career, I have worked as a lighting, sound, and rigging technician for major acts including UB40, Status Quo, Sub Focus, Kaiser Chiefs, Craig David, The Feeling, and many other influential artists. This diverse experience has broadened my understanding of live music production and deepened my perspective as a musician and educator. By incorporating this real-world experience into my lessons, I offer students a more comprehensive and practical approach to learning, helping them reach their musical goals with a grounded sense of industry reality. I take immense pride in every student, performance, and artist I work with.

Ed has been teaching my 16-year-old son Charlie for around 18 months, and he’s been brilliant from the start. Ed brings stacks of energy and enthusiasm to every single lesson and has a real knack for finding the right ways to motivate and engage Charlie in his playing.
Charlie had been playing drums for around five years before starting lessons with Ed, but Ed has helped take his playing to another level, particularly within Charlie’s preferred alternative and metal styles. Charlie has learned a huge amount, and his lessons with Ed really are one of the highlights of his week!
Ed strikes the perfect balance between working on tracks that each student will genuinely enjoy based on their preferences, whilst also encouraging students to explore other tracks and genres that help develop their technical skills.
As an active performing musician himself, Ed brings far more than just learning to play the drums to lessons. He’s able to help students develop performance technique and presence, understand kit set-up and preparation, and gain insight into the realities of performing live.
Ed regularly checks in after lessons, keeps me updated on Charlie’s progress and direction, and is genuinely invested in helping him grow as a musician rather than just getting through a lesson each week.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Ed to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, engaging and genuinely supportive drum teacher.I’ve had the pleasure of working closely with Ed through both professional teaching environments and as bandmates in our band, Bloodshot. Ed is an exceptional drummer with a deep understanding of rhythm, technique, performance, and musicality across a range of musical styles.
Alongside teaching drums through the RSL programme at Green Rooms Studio in Witney, Ed brings real-world industry experience into his lessons. Utilising both professional analogue and digital tools for the session musician experience. Ed is patient, approachable, and highly encouraging with students, creating an environment where people feel comfortable developing their confidence and skills at their own pace.
Having recorded music together and collaborated creatively in both live and studio settings, I can personally vouch for Ed’s professionalism, reliability, and passion for music education. He also works creatively within the wider music industry, including producing promotional content through his partnership with Collision Drumsticks, which reflects his dedication to the drumming community and modern music culture.
I would highly recommend Ed to anyone looking for an engaging, knowledgeable, and experienced drum tutor.
- Liam KerraneI discovered Ed’s lessons after him being heavily recommended by my local recording studio (Green Room Studios), and having been already aware of his work in the Oxford band ‘Bloodshot’. During my time with Ed I partook in highly professional and organised lessons which tackled both broad and specific areas of my drumming, which he tailored to my own pace and progress. Ed would also set homework in between lessons as to assure steady progress. The lessons offer incredible value for money and there is no better drum tutor within Oxfordshire.
I got in touch with Ed over instagram to book my first lesson, right from the first message he was super friendly and helpful. My first lesson was amazing, Ed took the time to assess my ability meaning that we were able to create a plan going forward. He explains things clearly and breaks things down into a more understandable manner and is very supportive. I would 100% recommend Ed he is incredibly friendly, an awesome teacher and his lessons are extremely enjoyable!!
My 9yo has had lessons with Ed for the last ~18 months, and has made so much progress. Ed caters both to learning progression and song 'requests,' and teaches grades as well. I can't speak highly enough of Ed's technical expertise, his patient and personalised teaching style, and infectious enthusiasm. Thanks so much!
Ed is just such an amazing tutor, he's been teaching my daughter drums for three years now and the growth in her confidence and skills is epic! It goes without saying he's a brilliant drummer, but he also has a real genuine talent for teaching. Just the best you can get!
Ed has been helping me up my drumming game, sorting out some bad habits and double pedal skills, via a bespoke lesson plan that gets charged up as needed. Am seeing some great progress where I was struggling before.
