About Jonah
I have been playing the guitar and writing music since the age of 10 and have a BA first-class Honours degree in Popular Music from Edinburgh Napier University. I have taught guitar privately for three years, taught music technology at Edinburgh Napier University for one year, and spent a year as a classroom assistant in the Stromness Academy music department. I have helped a wide range of students, from complete beginners to intermediate players looking to expand on their knowledge and hone their craft.

My goal is to make lessons a relaxed, fun, and enjoyable environment where you can learn at a pace that you feel comfortable with. I focus on positive encouragement and work hard to make sure that the lessons are varied and captivating. Learning the guitar takes practice and dedication but should also be exciting and rewarding!
Lessons are tailored to your goals and the artists, genres, and styles you are most interested in. As well as musical repertoire lessons cover a wide range of individual techniques, theory (such as scale/mode and harmony/chord knowledge) and invaluable practice skills. Through these tools, I can guide you in developing your musical voice whilst soloing and in composing your own music. In addition, I can help you to develop a strong overall technique and form, essential to building a long relationship with musical performance without injury or strain.
