About SJ
안녕하세요!
I'm a native Korean speaker born and raised in Seoul, South Korea.
I'm currently based in the UK, where I've been teaching Korean to students from all around the world for over 10 years.
My journey into teaching started when I realised how much I loved sharing my language and culture with others. Whether it's explaining the nuances of Korean grammar, diving into K-drama expressions, or discussing the latest K-pop lyrics, I find joy in helping students connect with the Korean language in meaningful ways.
Outside of teaching, I'm also a YouTube content creator, making Korean learning videos that help learners practice and stay motivated.
I have a background in software development, which gives me a unique perspective on how people learn and problem-solve.
I hold a TESOL certification and a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Chemistry. I'm passionate about making Korean accessible, enjoyable, and practical for everyone—from complete beginners to advanced learners looking to refine their skills.
When I'm not teaching, you'll probably find me exploring British culture, creating new content for my students, or enjoying a good Korean drama myself!

Here's how my lessons work
Before our first lesson:
I'll ask about your goals, current level, interests, and preferred learning style. This helps me design a learning plan just for you.
During lessons:
Interactive conversation practice - We'll spend most of our time speaking! This is the fastest way to build confidence.
Real-world materials - Depending on your interests, we might use K-drama clips, K-pop songs, Korean news articles, business emails, or everyday situations.
Clear explanations - I break down grammar and vocabulary in simple, easy-to-understand ways (no confusing jargon!).
Immediate feedback - I'll gently correct mistakes and help you improve in real-time.
After lessons:
You'll receive: Lesson notes summarising what we covered Customised practice materials Optional homework (I never force it, but it helps!)
