About Amy
Need some revision help before exams? I can help!
I combine 2 years of experience tutoring biology with my background spanning education and neuroscience. As someone who understands how we learn, and far too often sees students getting grades lower than they deserve, I love to break down complex topics and help students succeed.
My lessons are fun, engaging, and always interactive and tailored to you. You'll leave excited about biology, and feeling confident for exams.
I love biology because it questions life and the world around us. I'm so grateful to have a job I love doing - sharing my passion for science while helping young people feel confident and achieving the grades they deserve.
I create individual learning plans to ensure we stay on track. Lessons are always focused, with exam question practice during every lesson to ensure we're translating understanding into marks from the very start.

While traditional teaching approaches often dedicate more time to lecturing students, I always aim to have my students talk more than I do. I focus on asking questions, finding metaphors or connections with other material, and deepening your understanding.
My lessons have a visual focus. I use diagrams and drawings to explain material, and I use collaborative white boards so that together we build a visual record of our learning.
Before becoming a full time tutor I held roles in education, the NHS, and undertaking scientific research. I draw from this background to provide real world examples and context for many of the things we'll learn.

Amy is a fantastic teacher! Super friendly, Patient, incredibly knowledgeable and unravels the complicated things so anyone can understand it. Highly recommend! Stop searching for a teacher, you have found what you're looking for!
I didn't take any classes with Amy, but I got to know her quite well personally. She is a passionate science enthusiast and loves teaching. There isn't a conversation where she doesn't bring up a fascinating science topic. I am confident that she is an excellent biology tutor who genuinely cares for her students. :)
Amy is one of those rare people who combine deep knowledge with a natural gift for teaching.
She’s incredibly passionate about science and very knowledgeable, but at the same time she is warm, patient, kind and has a really strong sense of responsibility. She also has the ability to explain complex things in a simple, easy-to-understand way.
Because of all that, learning with her is both effective and enjoyable. She always makes sure you are progressing, and she inspires you not only to work hard and do your best, but also to develop a genuine love for science.
If you’re looking for a tutor who is both highly skilled and truly invested in her students’ succes, I honestly can’t reccomend Amy enough.
Amy has a great way of making dry biological concepts interesting. She is engaging and explains things from the lens of day-to-day experiences making biology so much more accessible than the standard classroom approach. She also encourages critical thinking skills so students are able to think through any curly questions that might come up in their GCSE exams.
