About Michael
I am a patient and reliable tutor who focuses on helping students build confidence and develop a strong understanding of the subjects they are studying. I believe progress comes from identifying areas of difficulty and working through them in a structured and supportive way.
I hold a 2:1 BSc in Finance and Business from Bournemouth University and have prior experience tutoring students, which gave me first-hand insight into how explanations often need to be adapted to different learning styles. My professional background has also involved communicating complex information clearly to clients, a skill that translates well into teaching.
I enjoy tutoring because it is rewarding to help students overcome challenges in subjects they may initially find difficult and to see their confidence grow as their understanding improves. As an avid and diverse reader, I bring a strong appreciation for language, analysis and clear communication to my lessons.
My aim is to create a calm and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, developing their understanding and making steady progress.

My tutoring focuses on identifying the areas where a student is struggling and helping them build understanding step by step. I aim to explain concepts clearly and break down problems into manageable parts so students can develop confidence in both English and Maths.
For English, lessons often focus on improving essay structure, reading comprehension and clarity of expression. For Maths, we work through problems methodically to strengthen core understanding and problem-solving skills. I also use exam-style questions to help students develop technique and familiarity with GCSE assessments.
Lessons typically last around 60 minutes, although shorter sessions can be arranged where helpful.
I hold a 2:1 BSc in Finance and Business from Bournemouth University and began tutoring students early in my career, giving me first-hand experience supporting learners and adapting explanations to different learning styles.
