About Jennifer
I am a graduate of the University of Aberdeen, who loves Science, particularly Biology and gets a lot of satisfaction seeing students' grades improve.
I speak very good, clear, grammatically correct English (I am Scottish) and I am cheerful, friendly, encouraging and helpful.
When I'm not tutoring I enjoy Science Fiction, gardening, knitting interesting objects and dolls, and listening to a vast selection of fantastic 60s, 70s and 80s music.

My sessions cover content and exam technique for the main GCSE and A-level exam specifications, using a mixture of presentations, past paper questions, whiteboards and models and I even have my own reagents for food tests. I can help boost students' confidence and am always keen to tailor the sessions to the specification and each student's own needs. I am patient, thorough and encourage students to ask questions as they benefit from the freedom to do this in one-to-one sessions.
My sessions are typically one hour, but I am flexible about that. I don't mind another additional student for the same hourly rate.
I have been a professional tutor since 2012, and have a background in Biological Sciences. My first degree was in Zoology: Cell and Immunobiology, and my second was a PhD in Zoology in the same area. Both degrees gave me a lot of experience in scientific methods, and also the molecular biology techniques that year 13 A-level students learn.
I also worked for several years in further education, including lecturing in access courses for higher education and gaining considerable experience supporting SEND students with additional needs such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia and visual impairments.
My preferred age levels for students are years 9-13, although I am happy to tutor students who are returning to education.
