About Grace
Engaging young people in reading and a love of literature as a skill is rewarding past GCSE and helps builds critical thinkers for the society in which we live.
I have taught and inspired many students to continue English Literature into A Level as a good foundation for what lies ahead after A Levels and BTecs; some have even read English at university and continue to keep me informed of their careers.
I know that for some students English doesn't come naturally to them however the daunting mantra shouted by schools of 'you must get a 4 to go to college' does more harm than good. I am happy to chat about your expectations and work towards your goal, whatever that may be.

I like to have one-on-one discussion of texts and methods to approach questions, to build confidence and allow young people to think critically. I am also able to embed writing skills with focus on fluency and brevity for exam questions.
Am happy to embed these skills in KS3 in preparation for GCSE.
For KS3 I recommend 45 min sessions; an hour at GCSE weekly.
The nitty gritty:
I was awarded a Graduate diploma in Education (English and Humanities) in 2011 with QTS awarded 2013.
I have taught A Level English literature (OCR exam board) for 6 years and have marked for the paper 2.
I have taught GCSE Literature and Language (AQA and Cambridge iGCSE) for 8+ years.
10 years teaching experience across KS3 English and History National Curriculum.
