About Irina
I have always held a particular love for maths—adoring the rush you get from completing a problem with just the right difficulty level. My epiphany was this—it would bring me unbridled joy to be able to provide that rush for another pupil, especially one who may not currently love or excel at maths. I have not yet sat an official GCSE exam, however as a Year 11 student my most recent mock has yielded a Grade 8 and I have been predicted a Grade 9 by my maths teacher. Despite my young age, I want to reassure that I will treat this responsibility with a great deal of seriousness and determination. Lessons will be carefully planned and I will be laser-focused on my behaviour and language used when speaking to students.

My tutoring philosophy is based in a highly personalised approach. I am willing and excited to work with pupils at any academic level wishing to improve in mathematical capabilities—from primary school to early Key Stage 3. Once I have a feel for what the student struggles with/wishes to improve on the most, I will concentrate on breaking down these topics in a slow and methodical manner with practice questions to build confidence while gradually increasing the difficulty. Lessons can be expected to last an hour. While I have not formally tutored anyone before for a commission, I have always been teaching and helping others wherever I could. In a school setting, I have been told by my peers that I am good at explaining concepts in a simple way they can understand by stripping them down to the core. I have also been involved in coaching younger children (ages 7-13) at a karate dojo where bright mannerisms and enthusiasm go a long way.
