About Grace
Hello!
My name is Grace Elson.
I am a fresh graduate of Cal State Long Beach, where I studied and received a Bachelors degree in English Education and Literature. I am currently in CSULB's teaching credential program, as well as actively working as a pre-service teacher with Middle College High School in Santa Ana.
As a pre-service teacher who began their teaching career at the height of the pandemic, I have experience with both online and hands-on tutoring.

I am a huge promoter of CRP, or culturally responsive pedagogy. This pedagogical style provides an enhanced focus on the literacy of kids from cultural and urban areas, through utilizing personal and academic experience to teach material. I readily utilize a process-based approach over a product-based approach to ensure that students are gaining the most they possibly can!
The lessons I provide are fitting for middle to high school english students, who struggle with grammar, flow, and topic distinction. Lesson plans will vary from student to student and from subject matter to subject matter, but I am well prepared to scaffold instruction for specific needs.
What sets me apart as a tutor from others is my ability to relate material to students personal and academic careers, in an effort to create a meaningful connection between self, world, and the text.
