About Abby
Having graduated from two elite universities in the United Kingdom, I bring both academic rigor and a genuine love of learning to every lesson. As a child, I struggled with focus in traditional classrooms and often needed extra time to ask questions before concepts clicked, which is exactly why I understand how different students need different approaches, and why I remain flexible to any learning style or academic need. Personally, my favorite art is anything modern or contemporary, since I love seeing how context and the world around us shape what an artist or writer creates. Outside of tutoring, I volunteer at my local community theater and have practiced archery for sixteen years!

As a tutor in art history and English, I care as much about why an answer is correct as I do about the answer itself, because understanding the systems behind a subject, whether that's the history of an artwork or the structure of a sentence, is what allows students to retain what they learn and apply it elsewhere. A typical lesson involves working through material together, pausing on specific details, and tracing them back to broader patterns so students build their own reasoning rather than depending on mine. What sets me apart is that I prioritize independent thinking over memorization, which helps students make smarter inferences across their coursework. I work with high school and middle school students preparing for exams, essays, or coursework in either subject.
