About Kellene
I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Arizona where I double majored in English and Creative Writing with a minor in History and a professional certification in Professional and Technical Writing. I then went on to receive my MFA from Chapman University in Television Writing and Producing.
I am a CRLA certified master tutor and have worked extensively with ESL students, graduate students, and fellow creatives.
Professionally, I have worked as a grants writer and have published several short stories and works of creative nonfiction.

My main goal as a writing tutor is to provide students with a skill that they can apply beyond the assignment or project that they're currently working on. I believe in a supportive and hands on approach that meets students where they are and allows for continuous growth whether it be an academic, professional, creative, or business related piece of writing.
I work with students at any level, focusing first on what they identify as a problem area, question, or specific element that they'd like to discuss, while also applying my expertise. For example, if a student comes in asking to exclusively work on grammar and citations for their paper, but I notice that their thesis is unclear or their arguments could be better supported in the body of their paper, it is my priority to work on both things during our session. I believe that the best way to improve writing of any kind is through an open dialogue discussion of the work, and I love to be a soundboard for my students.
