About Coertunay
My name is Coertunay Krause and I am a graduate of University of Washington with a degree in General Biology. I have been tutoring the MCAT (which includes Chemistry -- general and organic, Biochemistry, Biology, Psychology, Sociology, reading comprehension, and algebra-based Physics) for 6 years. Prior to that, I tutored students from middle school through college on math and science studies. My first focus is helping my students gain confidence in their own abilities to learn and study difficult subjects. We focus on developing better note-taking abilities and different ways of approaching learning that is tailored to the individual student. I also try to focus on bringing complex information to "real life" and helping students apply scientific and mathematical principles to their everyday understanding of life. I believe that everyone can understand science if just taught in a patient and fun way.

I focus on a comprehensive approach of connecting concepts from physics, chemistry, and biochemistry to illustrate the big picture. In a typical lesson, we will focus on an area in which the student is struggling and through visual images, notes, and practice problems we actively work on developing a deeper understanding of the subject. I love bringing in real-world examples to help students connect science to their life and bring their understanding "home" for them. Another area I love to focus on with my students is helping them understand how to better approach their classes and studying so that they become more self-sufficient in their studies. I teach Biology and Chemistry for high school students through undergraduate studies, and I also help pre-medical students study for the MCAT exam.
