About Tom
I am a graduate in History and Law (from the universities of St Andrews and City University London) so I have lots of personal experience in studying History and writing essays. I have also taught A-level and GCSE history privately for 7 years, so I have lots of experience in how best to prepare a student for these exams. Looking forward to meeting you!

My approach to teaching History is to farmiliarise the student with all of the techniques and approaches necessary to succeed in History exams, about which they may not know. Having gone over these ideas I focus on developing my student's skill in writing essay answers. I think it is particularly important to practice the past questions of a student's specific exam board, and to understand what they are looking for in their mark scheme. This way, with practice, a student can go into an exam feeling comfortable and farmiliar with the paper, and will know how to acheive the best marks. I offer 1 to 2 hour lessons for GCSE and A-level students. I have 7 years of experience as a teacher of History, as well as having taken a degree in History at the University of St Andrews myself.
