About Rowan
I found tutoring while exploring PhD options in early 2025 and have never looked back! To have the chance to do meaningful work and help students on their own academic journey is a real privilege.
My current specialism lies in constructivist and post-structural international theory, exploring small states and the manufacturing of their positions on the global stage through the discourse of world leaders. This work is built on over 15 years of post-16 study of a host of topics spanning politics, history, linguistics and the arts.
I have previously worked in the British Civil Service, the Aerospace sector, and for tech start-ups in Europe. I have had my work published in the Financial Times and for a time worked as editor of E-International Relations.

With years of first-hand experience across secondary, further, and higher education, I employ a student-led pedagogy to aid you in overcoming the biggest obstacles on your journey to academic success.
Having a Politics and Modern History BA from the University of Manchester and an International Relations MA, I am well equipped to support GCSE, A-Level and Undergraduate Students in their studies in these areas, with support also available for other arts subjects and general essay writing and editing.
After our free initial session I will create a bespoke scheme of work for us to progress through on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule. Retaining a core focus on the assessment at hand, I will help you to embed the knowledge you need to succeed and achieve the best grade possible.
Tutoring sessions are available on an hourly or two-hourly basis.
