About Matilda
I am a 23 year old Londoner - born and bred :) I have loved performing my whole life and have been singing and acting since before I could read .
After a long school career of acting, building lots of invaluable experience, an A* at Drama GCSE and A at Drama A-Level, I spent a year training at Central School of Speech and Drama earning a Diploma in Musical Theatre in 2018 whilst auditioning for Acting at drama schools. That year I was offered a space at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama where I trained in Acting for three years at one of the top drama schools in the UK, graduating last year.
Through my training I worked on productions, was directed by, and learnt so much from very important and experienced directors such as Jonathan Munby, Phillip Breen, Daniel Raggett, Michael Fentiman.
I have taken two productions to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as both an actor and devisor over the years - months which remain huge highlights of my career.
I have been working as a teacher and coach in schools in North London on and off for the past couple years as well as auditioning for jobs through my agent, so have a lot of amazing experience teaching kids and coaching in general.
Many of my family are actors or in the arts, so I have very much grown up surrounded by it and therefore have a deep understanding of it.
I can’t wait to explore texts and ideas. I have a great academic knowledge and understanding of theatre, its history and most importantly classical texts - Shakespeare especially - and I hope I can enthuse you with some of my enthusiasm for it even if you’re not quite there with it yet but need to do it for drama school…soon you’ll love it!
I am easy-going and personable, I’m a great cheer-leader of others, open minded and am always learning. I hope to both boost and challenge you to be the best you can be!

We will work on the speeches you bring (and I can suggest more too !) We will explore the text and draw possible conclusions then play with them all. We will also explore rooting your acting in the truth of the moment. I work very collaboratively and the hour session will be us working stuff out together - sharing ideas and I will help you see the speeches from different points of view and ask questions you perhaps hadn’t thought to ask. You will end up feeling ownership over your decisions and a confidence to make more in the future! My lessons are for any level and any age as long as you want to be there we’ll have something in common.
I did get into drama school first time so I am comfortable in my auditioning ability (!) so for those auditioning for drama school we can prepare for auditions on all other levels too . I am an actor/singer - a trained singer of 13 years - so we can work on songs to sing with a focus on the acting (which of course is the most important ingredient of that part of the audition!)

During my time teaching with Matilda at a North London Prep school, she displayed great knowledge and enthusiasm in her area of expertise. Matilda was able to engage pupils throughout lessons and show versatility when teaching a range of year groups and class sizes. Matilda’s positive attitude and love for teaching drama allowed her to make such an impact on the drama department as well as each individual she taught. Matilda was also hugely involved in school productions, public speaking lessons and small class shows. Matilda as an individual is easy to talk to and pleasure to work with.
My son was having trouble getting his audition speeches together and Matilda's name came up as someone who had recently qualified from one of the best drama schools with flying colours. Her understanding of text and subtext was eye-opening and helped him get a real grip the best way to go with his speeches - especially the classical one. She is engaging, a great communicator and very patient!
Matilda worked with my niece to help her choose and rehearse her audition pieces for drama school. She was excellent. Her understanding of text and how to deliver it in an audition environment was invaluable. I feel because her experience of Drama school was recent and fresh she could coach from invaluable personal experience. My niece described her as both 'reassuring and challenging' Highly recommend her.
Sara GayMatilda helped me out last minute and thank god.
I had one day to turn around a large self tape.
Matilda provided such a wealth of knowledge and was able to keep me on track as I stumbled over lines. She has such a warm presence and I cannot wait to work with her again.
Oh, also, I booked the job she helped me tape for!!I have known Matilda for years. She tutored my cousins and a few of their friends. They all ended up achieving A to A* grades at GCSE and A Levels, (they were doing terrible before they met her!). She is the most kind, respectful and simply joyous person to be around. I have observed her perfect communication skills, patience when explaining concepts and ability to adapt to different teaching methods, at first hand. Her motivational techniques combined with her never give up attitude exude inspiration, a quality every one of her students has had the privilege of experiencing. The grades improving will be an almost certainty when you hire Matilda because of her organisational skills, intelligence and rigour; however, perhaps even more importantly, she makes you inspired to be the best you can be. This is the greatest compliment you can pay any teacher.
